What made you strike this business idea? What inspired you to start this company?

Karan Sachdeva – While I and Saurabh were in our 3rd year of graduation we experienced a lot of informative hindrances which were similar to the ones we faced while completing high school. All the existing players are now a click betting websites where all they are interested is in collecting email id’s and forwarding to private colleges as leads.

We decided to create a platform which we would have been beneficial for us and something our fellow juniors would love. This lead to the birth of MereExams, where the word Mere symbolizes the personalization for exams, colleges, and careers.

When did you start your business?

Karan Sachdeva – We started MereExams while we were still in our 3rd year of BBA but officially we registered Mere Edu services Pvt. ltd on 26 July 2016

What does success mean to your company?

Karan Sachdeva – We aim to become India’s largest guidance and college discovery platform without providing bias suggestions to students which is a common norm in today’s scenario. The day colleges and “career counsellors” stop treating students as customers, we will feel that we have made a dent in the system.

How are you performing currently?

Karan Sachdeva – Over the last year, we have counselled more than 10000 students through different mediums such as our website, toll-free number, various outreach activities and strategic partnerships. We have built new systems and enhanced our technology which will enable us to reach the masses in the coming years with minimalistic effort in terms of providing them guidance and support.

What is the biggest risk to your company?

Karan Sachdeva – One of the major challenges we face is the impact of biased insufficient knowledge provide to parents and students by career counsellors, website or even well-wishers.

What are your plans for funding?

Karan Sachdeva – We are not looking to raise funds as of now as we wish to first aim to achieve certain goals being set by us for the first phase.

What is the biggest challenge you faced during your start-up setup?

Karan Sachdeva – Fortunately,  we didn’t face any such issue as we were well supported by Amity Innovation Incubator in terms of mentorship and infrastructure support

What does growth mean to you and your business?

Karan Sachdeva – For us growth shall be is directly proportional to the number of students we help also the number of schools we partner with our MereSchools platform. As during our operations, we figured that parents look out for schools to help them during this phase but schools are unable to do so due to limited resources they have.

How does your product stand different from others in the market?

Karan Sachdeva – We are far ahead when it comes to the amount of information we have for higher education in India, also one of our USP is that we provide authentic information coming directly from the most authentic source i.e. HRD Ministry.

Where are your start-up services spread?

Karan Sachdeva – We provide guidance through just a click on our web and app platform hence we are present in every bit and corner of this country.

What does it feel to be the founder of your start-up? How does it feel getting up every morning and getting on to work?

Karan Sachdeva – So there is this basic difference that I noticed over the years and that is, every Monday I get up excited thinking about the all the possible work that is to be completed during the week and for the day. I am really excited to interact with my employees and discuss the challenges coming in the coming days because I haven’t spoken to them for about 24 hours(Sunday) which makes me miss my work and employees. Whereas on the other hand, I see my friends posting about sad Monday or hectic Monday on social media.

Where do you see your business standing in the next 5 years?

Karan Sachdeva – In the next 5 years. MereExams would have partnered with 500 schools PAN India and counsell approximately 10,00,000 students in the process.
