What made you strike this business idea?
Sunder – Due to Covid-19, many people were unemployed. I was one of the many unlucky ones who were laid off without any prior notice. It was unfortunate losing my job while being the only earning member of my family. After many failed attempts at finding a suitable job, I realized that I had to rise to the occasion.
The pandemic gave the entrepreneur in me the push it always needed. I knew this was the perfect time to start something from scratch, especially because I had nothing left to lose. What I did have was some good knowledge and expertise in the foam industry since the past four years. My experience taught me one thing – consumers create companies. So I started my market research by targeting consumers who had purchased foam mattresses in the past. After lots of R&D, my team and I came up to with a perfect Dreamz mattress to suit all body types. This is how Dreamz started as an initiative of a common employee, who just wanted to make a difference in the lives of people experiencing poor sleep.
What inspired you to start this company?
Sunder – As mentioned earlier, I was the only earning member of my family. That itself was an inspiration for me to start something of my own and create an impact on others life by providing them with the level of comfort they lack while sleeping. Hence, Dreamz was started with an intention to provide the best sleeping experience along with customer satisfaction.
When did you start your business?
Sunder – As discussed, I lost my job in pandemic so after one and a half month when our consumers were satisfied with our unique mattress then we launched our business on the 13th of June, 2020
What does success mean to your company?
Sunder – Success for us will always be a happy customer who is contented with the purchase.
How are you performing currently?
Sunder – As expected, we are going great. We have achieved customer satisfaction towards product after delivering 200+ Mattresses. We thought that we might receive at least some mattress in return, but fortunately, people have liked the product and services that we haven’t received any return till date.
What is the biggest risk to your company?
Sunder – Losing our customers due to increased competition in the market and eventually the decrement in the level of sales volume and receiving more than excepted return request will always be the biggest risk our company would ever face.
What are your plans for the funding?
Sunder – Well, every start-up need funds for their potential growth and expansion. If anyone thinks that I am capable enough and would like to invest, then you are always welcome!!
What is the biggest challenge you faced during your start-up setup?
Sunder – The biggest challenge was to make the perfect mattress to provide the best sleeping experience. For that, we collected every kind of high-density foams. I approached a foam manufacturer to learn more about the structural properties of memory foam and checked almost 23 foams with 217+ combinations. With a lot of research and development, we came up with Duox memory foam mattress, which could sustain various weather conditions and temperatures ranging from 10°c to 46°c! The mattress was conditioned to cater to people across the demographics of age groups and body types. The first trial was carried out for 1½ month. After getting a huge wave of positive reviews, we decided to launch our Dreamz Duox mattress and pass on the benefits to all the end consumers who were struggling to find the perfect memory foam mattress.
What does growth mean to you and your business?
Sunder – Currently, we are in the growing stage and receiving near about 30-40 orders, but our focus is to obtain more orders shortly. Honestly, for me, growth doesn’t come with a full stop. It always comes with a comma.
How does your product stand different from others in the market?
Sunder – Our Duox Mattress consists of 3 layers of foams. The first layer is of HD memory foam, followed by SS (super soft) foam and a final layer of special foam – all of which ensures the support your body needs for better sleep while minimizing the sinking. The Doux mattress (memory foam mattress) is unparalleled when compared to other products in the market due to its unique qualities. Even though it is a memory foam mattress, it doesn’t feel super soft. It may just be the mattress you are searching for a good night’s sleep!

What does it feel to be the founder of your start-up?
Sunder – It comes with lots of responsibilities because being a founder of Dreamz it’s important to be perfect in every aspect either it’s about production, customer satisfaction or delivery you need to provide what people need from you. Sometimes it’s hard to fulfil, but when you became a founder, it becomes your duty.
Also, you need to carry your complete team, maintaining the perfect balance between customer, internal team and third-party vendors.
What does it feel to be the founder of your start-up?
Sunder – A really tough question as it’s very hard to say how it feels now. I became more practical about everything. When you start something, you will be having loads of responsibility, thoughts (positive and negative). At this point in time, I am very lucky to get this opportunity. I am doing my best due to which am receiving lots of appreciation from my coworkers, consumers and others who are with me on this journey.
How does it feel getting up every morning and getting on to work?
Sunder – I feel fresh because here you don’t have to take pressure as you do when you work for someone, but as I told you when you become a founder, you do have loads of responsibility. You need to come up with instant solutions for any problems. Sometimes you have to work late at night and again start the day with a smile.
I love to smile always because I always believe your happiness will give you more confidence.
Where do you see your business standing in the next five years?
Sunder – It depends on our present. The way we are growing, I am sure that we will be in a better position. I am confident just enough because of our service and quality.

Who supports you to stand this business and how?
Sunder – Honestly, no one can start a business without any support. In my case, very few people supported me and many pointed fingers at me, be it emotionally, financially, technically practically and logically.
The core Support was always from my family and few other people around me but apart from family one person was always with me from the day I decided to start and without them it was impossible for me to reach this stage. That’s what life is all about. Trust.
